Vista Bay Graduate, Harry G.
Completed the Program in 2004
I am 18 years old and I have been in the VistaBay program for a few months now. When I was 13 years old, I started drinking and smoking pot. Both were easy to get, and it didn’t seem like such a horrible thing to do. After a while, though, that wasn’t enough for me. I started doing coke and crack. By the time I was 15 I was using these drugs heavily. Before long, I was doing just about every drug there is and I couldn’t stop. I began to rob my family, friends, and neighbors in order to support my habit. I simply couldn’t think about anything but drugs anymore. About 4 months, I got arrested for forgery, breaking and entering, and theft.
Can you even imagine this? I was 15 and I got arrested for all of those petty crimes. Clearly I was not thinking for myself. I was released to my parents, but I needed serious help for my drug problem. That’s when they sent me to Vista Bay. I arrived here thinking there was no hope for myself. But gradually I started to take in everything I was learning, I came to realize I truly am a great person. I don’t need drugs to live. I am now fully confident that I will stay drug-free for the rest of my life. I would like to thank VistaBay for giving me a new outlook on life. The program is a lifesaver. I recommend that anyone who had substance abuse problems like I did should definitely experience this.

I came to Vista Bay in April of '07. I was a drug dealer as well as an addict. I knew the lifestyle I was involved with would either lead me to jail or death.
Not long ago, I honestly thought I was going to die. I was hopelessly addicted to pills, and maybe a few other things. I was so out of it that I really had no idea what I was putting into my body after a while.
